When Cookies Crumble, Make Ice Cream Topping

Sometimes things dont go as youd planned. Ill called that the cookie crumble effect. You had a cookie and it crumbled. When you didnt want it to. So if you stop therewith a crumbled cookie, you may thinkokay, it is all just a messbut if you go a step further and use that crumbled cookie as ice cream topping then it really isnt much of a mess anymoreright?

Parades

I had the great pleasure of shooting the Coney Island Mermaid Parade with tmronin and my new friend Photorico on Saturday.

Have I mentioned recently just how uber fuckin awesome tmronin is? He let me pick his brain all the way to Coney Island about camera lenses and camera bags and stuffso awesome! We ran in the lovely and charming Molly as wellmeow, shes got SUCH a beautiful ass And a witty smile

So here are some very stylized pictures from the parade

My View on View Cameras

They are kickass amazing. I did a (get this) 6 hour shoot on Saturday morning with a very sweet Italian photographer who shoots with a view camera. Id only ever seen view cameras in books and at the Museum of the Moving Image out in Queensbut let me tell youthere is something absolutely incredible about the negatives you get from one of those camerasfirst of alltheyre HUGE. Anything from 4x4 to 8x10 INCHES. Imagine what you can do working from an 8x10 negativeyeahso hopefully Ill have some digital images of his early prints to post tomorrow. What was really super cool was that he showed me how to use the camera, how to process the negatives and hours of geek talk. I cant begin to explain how clear the negatives that he got wereit was justcrazy. EXPENSIVE TOO. Evidently, a box of 50 exposures run upwards of $150. That is true dedication. I was very impressed, especially because he was so good! I dont want to jinks the outcome, but those negatives were friggin awesome.

Pride, Baby!!!

After the shoot I hiked over to the Pride Parade to take some pictures. New York City really is the greatest place on earth. Two awesome parades in one weekend where people are largely naked. Just try to top that!
