Not The Least Bit Jaded

I, unlike some jaded Yankees, have not lost my wonder at the first morning of snow. I got back last night around midnight and by 2am it was flurrying, which is a bit surprising since we don't usually get much in the way of flurries until January, but I didn't think it was anything other than a few flurries in the night. By 6am there was a solid 3 inches of fluffy, powdery, crunchy real-to-goodness SNOW. And it was beautiful. Snow changes the light and I swear that is what woke me up since last night was the first time I'd gotten any sound sleep in a week. I was completely stunned when I looked into the backyard this morning. Laying in bed I can see trees and they were covered in snow, but the proof is when you look down and yep...the whole yard was blanketed in a giant, fluffy down comforter-style layer of snow.

Threw on some of S's winter gear -- which made me look like a little kid in her father's clothes (which is just kinky and we won't go there...here...) since I gave away most of my serious winterwear when I moved to GA over the summer thinking that I certainly wouldn't need it there and someone else could better use it here...upppppsssss.

Anyway, this was me yesterday:

...and this is my neighborhood today...

That last one cracks me up. A giant plastic "snow globe" -- complete with swirling "snow" inside...surrounded and covered in REAL snow. Ha! Okay, maybe it's just me, but that's funny as hell.

Seriously Ready For Christmas Now

I'm generally not very into Christmas -- other than the trees. I have a serious thing for Christmas trees. X-mas with a decorated tree is not X-mas and I don't care what reasonable or rational or any other argument you use to try to convince me otherwise. My favorite part of going to see my family at X-mas is falling asleep in front of the fireplace while the lights on the tree slowly fade in and out.

My least favorite thing about X-Mas is that I only get to NC about two days before Christmas and I don't often get to have a real Christmas tree here in Brooklyn. Boooooooo. I have decided that this year I'm going to start collecting Christmas ornaments from places I go so that one day when I'm "old" I can have a tree full of meaningful ornaments. My mom does that and it is always (yeah, yeah, I know it sounds cliqued) fun to pull them out of boxes and remember trips and art classes when I was 4 and things like that.

So everyone should post pictures of pretty Christmas trees in my journal so I can love them all... wink

And, after many years of protesting...I'm adding a pair of those Ugg-type boots to my wishlist. They're ugly as hell, but I like my toes...they're cute...and I think I'm just going to give in.

I want to go see the snowflake show at Macy's at Rockafeller Center and go ice skating in the park and walking around Prospect Park looking at all the beautiful lights and drive up Park Ave. and see all the trees. Yep. I'm ready for some Christmas lights.

The Object Of My Affections

Arrives back in approx. 7 hours. That is 7 hours too long from now. A week away was hell and I actually have the feeling that if I don't see him soon I'm going to start rearranging his furniture. I've already cleaned out the fridge. Antsy. Antsy. Antsy. I've never been so horny in my life. Period. Returning home and crawling into bed alone...sucks!

I truly am the luckiest, happiest, (best laid), most pampered gal in Brooklyn. I'd say the universe, but outside of Brooklyn all else kind of doesn't seem to matter. biggrin wink biggrin Ha ha ha ha ha! I'm joking. Sorta.

Plus, there was a Letter waiting for me when I got home last night. Full of instructions...leading up to his arrival home. And a mysterious reference to a box for me to be opened this afternoon. blush I love surprises!

Okay, quick, everyone go play in the snow.

xoxo
