I'm frickin' beat. Big convention here in SF this week! I'm really glad I didin't have to travel...just a matter of rolling into a cab. Lately I have been looking at my life and "career" and thinking "what the hell is the POINT of all this?!" I don't have an answer. Am I happy....I think so. Am I content? No...

I reconnected with a friend of mine who I haven't seen in several years. He's a good guy, but really fell off the deep end last year. I'm trying to help him clean himself up, but you can only help those who WANT to be helped and will help themselves.

About a year ago, his older brother was walking down the sidewalk...just as any of us would do on a common day. He slipped on a patch of ice and hit his head. 3 hours later, he was dead. This guy had everything going for him and was just beginning his life. Fit, handsome, married tot he love of his life, great job, well-educated, wanting to start a family. All that...all those years...snuffed out in the blink of an eye. I'm been thinking about it since Sunday...no matter what you do, you never know when it's "your time." Makes me appreciate my own mortality a fuck of a lot more.

Ah well...I need to work. At least the mundane conversations I'll have today will keep my brain occupied. When a lie down tonight, it will all come back though.
