First day was pretty nice actually. My new boss was actually out of the office, so I had time to get settled. I still can't believe how great the location is -- from one vantage point, one can see the Transamerica pyramid, Alcatraz, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Golden Gate. My office points inland though, so I have to go outside to get such views...but it is inspiring.

I spent most of the day emailing old acquaintances. Being out of of the industry for over a year hasn't really affected the relationships...in the grand scheme of things, it's only one "cycle" of products.

A good buddy of mine surprised me last night with some extra large bottles of beer from the brewery he works at. He used to work in my industry, but kinda blacklisted himself...I'm not sure how. He's a good guy...great guy actually, but I'm one of the only ones who can tolerate him. I guess he's what you'd call and "alpha" male, so a lot of people are turned off by his personality -- mostly men. Ah well, their loss.

I'm know longer panicky like I was yesterday, but I still have the overwhelming sense to perform, which is a good thing. I needed a kick in the ass to get started. Good times. Ah well, I need to start the ritual.
