Yertle the Turtle by Dr. Seuss explains the superior man-on-top situation. The top turtle stands on the back of another turtle who stands on another turtle who stands on another turtle and so on making a very tall turtle tower. All it takes is for one turtle to topple the entire turtle tower. Of course, in real life, it makes more than just one turtle to bring down an entire system.... I think the main thing to take away from the story is to never take the little people (little turtles) for granted because they do the grunt work that no one wants to do.
