So as a webcomic artist I'm discovering a couple of things. The first is just how much work goes into making a comic in the first place. I've enjoyed comics ever since I was in middle school and always dreamed of busting out page after page of amazing artwork and story. I thought it was no big deal to do what they did. Now that I'm actually trying it I have a shit ton more respect for those artists and writers. Pretty much my whole life has changed these past few weeks from writing dialogue to when and how I pick up/drop off the kidlet from school. Its been a crazy juggling act and through it all I have new equipment, software and art techniques to learn how to use and use efficiently.

The second thing I'm discovering and the true focus of this blog is that comic art is my true calling. I think it always was to be honest. While I love so many different forms of art this is what I can truly get passionate about. I can create characters that are not just interesting to look at but also are interesting to read about. Characters, worlds and places come alive in the panels that both show and tell. Its amazing seeing what was once just some images in my imagination take shape on paper and then fly onto the web for all the world to see. To me the creative process is its own reward. Sure I don't have shit for an audience right now but that's not why I do this. Someday a large group of people will all read my comics and eagerly await the next page to be posted but for now I can take comfort and joy in knowing that my stories are being told and shown. Each new page is an adventure not just for the characters that grace them but for me as an artist. I don't think I've ever felt more satisfaction creating art than I have these last few weeks, its a great feeling and one I hope to share with all of you for many, many more years to come.
