tonight i have been listening to an album i bought recently on ebay...



the tuvan's are from south siberia and their traditional music is called khoomei.. a mongolian word for throat and generally translated as "throat singing"

the songs are usually performed by one single vocalist producing 2, or maybe 3, distinct notes simultaneously. by precise movements of the lips, tounge, jaw, velum and larynx, singers can selectively intensify vocally produced harmonics.... (if you haven't guessed yet.. these are the words from the sleeve notes. as if i could ever sound that intelligent )


so.. what has adam learnt from this stunning collection of tracks apart from how talented these singers are..?


lesson 1: this album is wicked for sampling, whether for your own compositions or for an ambient dj set.. it's the fucking dogs bollocks!

lesson 2: tuvan throat singers scare the living shit out of your cats here is wookiee looking most unhappy as the cd was playing..



and as for kenobi.. well, i couldn't get her to come out from behind the sofa... awwwwwwww
