Some of the greatest psychological minds ever to walk the earth purposed a theory that we do not act upon anything, that we only react to the environment. The stimulus that gets us to react might only filter thru to the unconscious where we act upon it. The reaction where the "dominos" start to fall is deep below our perception, consciousness, and knowledge. The dominos keep falling through our unconscious until that reaction reaches our consciousness, and then we react. Also the thought process in general is just another behavior, and we act accordingly on the stimulus based on our environment and the conditioning we recieved as children.
Also these "dominos"....do they explain people with mental disorders, manias, and psychotic disorders? Does a domino not fall or do they fall too quickly or too slowly? Do some people have shorter rows of dominos than others?
For example, when I first delved into this subject I thought to myself "Self, I will stand on one foot for an hour to show that I have free will", but then I started thinking about it and would I not be reacting to the subject and below my consciousness something was triggered so I thought about responding that way. So would this eradicate the thought of free will?
I am not saying this is true, false, or other. I just find it fascinating.
When you think about it, it is some pretty mind blowing stuff huh?
