I'll have my fingers crossed for you, my dear. You seem to be coping very well with such a painful situation. I know you can keep going but it's always nice to have some history.
You need to have at least 2 backup drives that are not identical because it's very common for them to fail in the same week when they are purchased at the same time from the same supplier. I can see how you wouldn't want to burn a couple of hundred DVDs as an alternative. Good luck!
