Portugal... The Azores. Today, I went to an artisan cheesemaker's house that produces small batches of "Pico Cheese" - one of the best cheeses I've ever had, that is only made on this island (where my Portuguese fam is from). I tried the wine and flavored liquors that are grown here exclusively, and walked through volcanic arches on oceanic cliffs with waves crashing all around me... Then I caught a fawn sneezing on video (!!). After that, I learned about the agricultural plague that hit the island in the 1850s and forced my family to leave the islands and immigrate to the US. There are no words for this state of being... So much gratitude for this experience. Back to California the day after tomorrow, even though I'm thinking I could stay here forever.
