Realizing more and more that I'm getting old and crotchety and becoming a bad person:
1. This weekend there was a wedding on campus. A university employee came to tell me 5 cars from the wedding were parked in his building's loading dock and needed to be towed. So I called campus police and they came. The employee came back and said "Tell them to stop towing! The maid of honor parked her car there!"
My first thought "Uh, too late." My second, "There's a parking garage right across the street - are you telling me they are so poor they can't afford to pay for two hours (at most $5) of parking to be at a wedding on time?"
2. I'm doing props for a show. The director INSISTS on having a tuning fork. As a musical person, I tell her a tuning fork does not make a loud noise that she wants. She continues to complain over the next month how she "really wishes she has a tuning fork for the show." Now keep in mind, I've bought her many other items that make a loud melodic metallic sound - but no, she says "they aren't the same as a tuning fork." So yesterday I spent $15 on a tuning fork just to prove I'm right - guess what's not being used in the show. UGH! I'm returning it next week.
3. On the bus today I heard that three people got fired from one of my old jobs. I chuckled evilly in the back of the bus. Serves them right...
4. Yesterday, my director decides for us to play "the noticing game" about another person in our cast. Is it so wrong that I don't want to play after I've already "noticed" everything interesting about the person in 15 seconds? He says it will make us be better actors but I'm grouchy because 1) I have an acting degree, and 2) if acting is about truth, what's the point in being false to play a game?
That's about it for now - please share some stories in hopes I'm not the only one turning evil here...
PS to add bonus of what happened just now at work:
Lady approaches my desk. She asks me "Do you know what happened to the two ducks out in your pond?" I look at her and say "Let me look that up on the university's website..." She goes on "Because there used to be two of them and I only see one and the mom's gone and her nest has been destroyed and I don't know what to do and I'm very worried!" I look up from my search engine and say "Ma'am the university really doesn't monitor it's ducks." She looks sadly at me and says "I guess that's because they're wild." And mopes away... WTF? WHY ME?
