Stolen from my MySpace because I am lazy and uncreative lately because of school/work:
Hey all - I'm sick of being fat. (Well, mostly being cast in fat roles and being called fat).
And aside from tips of "Get on the treadmill and put down the cake" anyone have any pointers?
I'm not looking to join something like weight watchers or Jenny Craig (because you have to pay for meetings and food, plus attend meetings like "Food-aholics Anonymous" and food is not evil or an addiction for me, I just want to get healthy). I'm looking more for a gradual lifestyle change that will occur over the course of May-August.
I already walk a lot, but I do eat out a bunch, so especially people who have good cooking tips and snack tips - that would be greatly appreciated so I can learn to pack my own lunch instead of going out (which will also save me money!)
Also, I know my mom will say eggs and oatmeal, but what else is good - oh and I HATE melon and celery (yucky!), but I'm open to things like salad, maybe even go as far as weighing food or food diaries.
So what works people? How do all of you stay skinny bitches?
One of the best/worst thing about doing hospital studies, is usually only girls participate in them and secondly only young men ever run them. Here is a highlight from one of my last interviews:
Young Male Dr. Student: Are you in a serious, long term relationship?
Me: No.
YMDS: Can I ask you that if you ever enter into such a relationship you will use contraception?
Me: Uh, sure.
YMDS: But you know, uh, abstinence, is um, the best...
Me: Yeah, I know.
YMDS: I'm sorry I have to ask but...
Me: No, it's okay, I understand, I used to teach sex ed.
YMDS: Oh ok. Yeah, we've had a lot of women drop out because of pregnancy. And we're trying to stop that.
Me: Uh, ok. I don't think you have to worry about me.
YMDS: Great! It would mean a lot to us.
Me: Well, you know, anything for the study... (implied eye roll)
Anyway, right now, I'm in the middle of Prelims so that's consuming my life. I hope to distract myself less and work more... soon.
PS: If you can find this video clip for me, I'll give you a cookie, I need it for a final!

Remember those three sectioned plates well use the big half portion for your veges and the 2 smaller portions for your protein and starch.
Hope that helps.
Oh yes lots of fiber or get a fiber supplement
I know there are a billion diets out there, and I'm sure some of them really work. Have no experiance with them though. I've been a vegetarian all my life, and maybe that is a good thing weight-wise. But my tip for losing weight and most importantly doing it in a healthy way would be to excercise with something that is actually rather fun. Because otherwise it will always feel like a punishment and that's not exactly motivating. This would be different for everyone, of course, for me the two things I enjoy doing is taking long walks and swimming. I have never had any weight problems so for me it's more about trying to keep myself in better condition. I mean I've always been pretty skinny but at the same time before I could hardly run to the bus if I was in a hurry.
Of course I also came by here to say thank you for your comment on my set. It means a lot to hear such positive feedback.
