oh, it's too early. again. i was up at 4:30 this morning. my sleeping schedule is all screwed up and it's getting to be quite annoying. so once again, i found myself tooling around on the interwebs at a ridiculously early hour. and now i have random pictures to share biggrin very random (you've been warned) wink

as an English major, this pleased me:

and from an inability to sleep, we go straight to....

i'm absolutely terrified of clowns. my coulrophobia has been a source of entertainment to many who know me, especially around Halloween. i went to Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America one year when i was in grad school, and there were points when i was almost in tears, i was so scared. so i don't do Fright Fest or haunted houses anymore. my idea of a fun time in a 'haunted house' is the Haunted Mansion ride at Disney World

however, knowing what i know about psychology, a few years ago i set out to try to desensitize myself to my fear of clowns, at least enough so that i wouldn't be tempted to run screaming from anyone dressed as a clown (this actually comes up more often than you might think surreal )

the root of my fear was the made-for-tv movie of stephen king's It. i somehow managed to watch it when i was waaaaay too young and have been dodging clowns ever since.

first, i read the book. i had never read it before, and being able to create my own pictures of the characters in my mind helped- the clown in my head was less creepy than the one in the movie, and didn't have pointed teeth or creepy claws.

my next step was to watch the movie. to my great surprise, the clown in the movie is played by Tim Curry, who is not at all frightening.

because it is so clear that the clown: is played by the completely non-threatening Tim Curry: , i was actually able to watch the movie with very little fear. now when i encounter a clown, i can at least remain calm enough to leave the area without drawing attention to myself or making a scene. i still don't like 'em though eeek

and so i've been up for 2 hours. i wish i was tired. you know what gives me great happiness when i'm loopy in the morning?

lolcats.
