This last week I read my first Hemingway book. The old man and the sea. Fabulous... a really good and easy one day read.

So I went looking for movie adaptations after that. There were two but one was from 1958 with Spencer Tracy. How could I pass that up. While not quite a perfect match and I did enjoy the book far more, the movie was well done for it's time. I loved seeing Spencer Tracy. In addistion I always enjoy seeing how our culture has changed in it's mores and values over time (see the actual killing of sharks in this movie for the shark scenes... I wonder how many were killed to get the shot right? I saw at least 3 gravely injured). Also I found this movie to have shades of Tom Hanks Castaway to it. One man out in the wilderness, just him and the wild. Well worth the watch if you don't want to read the book.

I guess i will have to add that to the list of books this summer too... but i think i'll pass on the movie with the killing of sharks and whatnot puke

you are on my top 8, i won't boot you im just fed up with some ppl, or not really ata ll since they just added me yet say nothing at all. im interested in your comments you said you had the other day but never posted? um ya i had a bunch of shitty stuff happened so it's a long road to recovery and GAD is just one result. and so baby steps ya, and pacing is what i need. so i have to celebrate my small feats because they are actually big to me
