1. Contrast Darwin's ideas of desent with modification and natural selection to the ideas of some of his predecessors such as Malthus, Paley, Cuvier and Lamarck.-------Done
2. State and briefly explain the two laws of Thermodynamics. Then discuss how the new wave theroy of light proposed by Thomas Young and Augustin Fresnel challenged Newton's particle theory of light. ------Done
III. Social Science Essay Questions
1. What are the key ideas in Karl Marx's theory of historical materialism? What elements of Georg Hegel's philosophy did Marx untilize? How did Marx's approach differ that of Hegel?
2. Compare and contrast key ideas in the philosophy of utilitarianism endorsed by Adam Smith and Jeremy Bentham with the key ideas in historucal m!aterialism of Karl Marx.
The actual exam only has one question from each section, but I don't know which till I get the test. So unfortunately for me the best way to prepare is to write out all six essays.
But I'm more than half way done now, and sent my science essays to my professor to go over, so I think I'm doing pretty well.
In other news:
Disney called me on Saturday morning, and told me that they could in fact not let me go back to work, because my doctor had marked the "desk work" box and also the box that said I could lift 0lbs with my right arm on my note. By my doctor marking the 0lbs box means that (acccording to Disney) I can't lift a pencil or paper or anything! It was the same guy I had been talking to all Friday and the call on Saturday just ended up being pretty silly, on both ends. So I am off work for another month, and all I wanted was another week so I could get through finals
