The danger of not "passing": I got in trouble last year at work for not blending well enough at Commencement. (I work and study at a college.)

We all (the admin) have to wear these long black robes. I thought these boots would be cool underneath, plus they are really comfortable:

They were ashamed of my boots and thought I would be a distraction, so I was allowed nowhere near the stage, and was discouraged from meeting our keynote speakers, too.

Ah, well. Maybe I should have known.
