People keep saying, "Whoa you're starting big aren't you?" when they find out it's not a tiny contained tattoo, and that my first sitting will be THREE HOURS. Is that a lot in tattoo land? I don't even know.

i wanted to get some back-work done for my first tat & my tattooist told me that it was ALOT for a first one. so i punked out & didn't do it lol. after experiencing that sensation though...i'd have to agree..it would have been a bit, BUT....some have a higher tolerance for intense sensation. i feel that you may be one of those people

i had a six hour tattoo that was split up into two sessions. yes, it hurts, i'm not going to lie, but no its probably not as bad as you think. good luck!!!
