so i will be 35 in less than a month and i think its time that i face the cold hard truth. yes folks, it would seem i have lost a step.

i took a lot of time to reflect on a lot of things this weekend. and strangely enough, even though i was up until 4 something on saturday/sunday and took a sleeping pill and only got about 5 hours sleep, i woke up yesterday feeling a lot more refreshed and clear-headed than i would have imagined.

i am doing and trying to do a lot of things. thats nothing new, i have always been that way. and i am fully confident that i am capable of accomplishing all that i set out to do. the place where i need help however is in my ability to effectively manage all of these events and the time it takes to "git r done". time management has never been my greatest strength but i was always able to make up in other ways.

now though, i realize i need to get a MUCH better handle on how i run my days as way too many hours are slipping by with nothing to show. like my old boss used to say, "plan your work, then work your plan". im at the point now where i cant audible at the line anymore. i need to have my game plan clearly mapped out to compliment my strengths and weaknesses and account for any unforeseen circumstances.

sure, ten years ago i could work 20 hours a day for 6 - 7 days straight and not miss a beat. all the while working off a make-shift "to do" list on a post it note or in my head. these days, too much of that behaviour will wear me out (not to mention that i can never find the damn post it notes anymore). and i have way too much at stake to be inefficient.

so i am going to take the next few days to become better acquainted with Outlook and my Palm Pilot. i'll be setting task lists and schedules. remaining in touch with reality and using the tools at my disposal to maximize my productivity will insure that i dont get older...just better.

I get those times when I feel I haven't accomplished enough at my age. It's disheartening.

And I am the queen of wasting hours with nill to show for it.

Good luck with maximizing your productivity. smile
