1. My house is still not clean. My rationale for this is because I need bookshelves. The bookshelves on either side of the fireplace are full and the big bookshelf in the living room is stuffed with double rows of books. Because this is a big old house with lots of nooks and crannies, I also have books stacked in every inch of space on the ledge that goes above the stairs, stacked on chairs and the table, and against the wall.
2. At my desk a quick count shows 8 books...a dictionary, a book of American history, an old ecology textbook that I loved too much to sell back, a book on archaeology and anthropology that I love, a Farmer's Almanac, a book of naughty spanish (because I needed to know something about a sausage), and a pharmacology drug guide that I don't love but find I do love to have it's knowledge at my fingertips. There is also a coffee mug my Mom gave me with a brown haired girl reading a book on it. It says "reading girl" on it. She is wearing glasses and looking really cute.
3. Maybe I should open a bookstore. It would probably lead me to being really poor my whole life, but I am now so it's not like I would know any different. At least I would like it.
4. At this point I will never come up with a top ten book list. It may have to be a top 100...men were so much easier.
5. Back to bookshelves. My room mate is going to build me two. I am so excited. They will be four feet wide and six and a half feet tall. Will they do?
6. I am either a very lazy girl or a very industrious girl. I tend to go to extremes. Today, since I am off, I am going to be very industrious. I want to take this community education class that is today at 1 o'clock. I didn't read the flyer for it until last Friday so I never registered. I am going to call them shortly and find out if they can fit me in. If not, that's OK. There will always be more classes. Silly me, school is out and I have to find some other class to fill my time...
7. So, like I said it is my day off and I had the beautiful fantasy that I would sleep in! NOT!! That dream came to a halt at 6:44 this morning with my dog whining pitifully at me. I thought she wanted in the bed with me, so I rolled over, moved over all the blankets and patted the bed. I tried to coax her, "Come on, you wanna come up?" Finally she jumped up on the bed and laid down. Back to sleep for me. But not for long. She started whining persistently again for me to get up. I thought maybe she had to go really bad, but no, at 7:15 I took her out and all she wanted was to play ball.
8. I decided to lay back down after I came in from playing outside with my dog. But of course those plans were also thwarted. While I was downstairs feeding my friend's cat (who I am cat-sitting) I didn't notice my dog disappear. I come upstairs and go to my bedroom and what do I see? She is in the middle of my bed all snuggled in like it is a nest with blankets all around her with her head laying on my pillow. It was so cute I couldn't be mad.
9. Yesterday at work I made only a few cakes, but I made a lot of cookies and cupcakes. On them I used bright summery colors and lots of sprinkles. It made me happy.
10. My little sister has been sick, so since I am off work I was planning to make her something good. Help me decide - should I make her a lemon cake or a coconut cake? Or how about both?
11. I took my plants outside and now my house looks so empty and lonely. But my front porch is happy.
