Went to see a friend's friend's band play. Yeah with that many degrees of separation, and the certainty that 'friends bands' are usually not that good (but we support them because we adore their moxie), I went for it, considering that their own band is quite good (country/soul/light rock). Well this new group had it going on!, with any differences being positive ones as well. Vocally the two are identical. Musically, a give and take - the 'new' band has a more diverse sound, and kept switching the tempo from rock, acoustic, and when they whipped out the kazoo for an 'unplugged' number the audience was floored! It was their passion and enthusiasm that kept the mood grounded though. Lyrically she was brilliant. Some of the best words I have heard, seriously. $10 later, I've got the CD, and pledged my loyalty to the band as a new fan. Fellow Geminis will understand what that means to us.
