Do You Hear Sleigh Bells?

After over 40 years living in Alaska, I still is snow at this time of year. Where I am now living on the East Coast there might be a few days where a snowfall hangs around. The only upswing of this kind of snow is that one doesn’t need to

Christmas Memories, Parte the Firste

There are and very likely will always be so many good memories surrounding this time of year, and I hope that is true for everyone who reads these words. A fair few of them are always brought to me by the music of the holiday. The first Christmases I remember in the house on Park Plaza

The Return of the Return of the Native

Finally, with the knowledge that I would not be arranging the shipping of my belongings to the East Coast. It was on to other things of import to Soul, if not Material.

I believe it was that Thursday that the theater group I had enjoyed acting with for many years held their first

‘The Last Stop’

“It was on October the Fourth that the man came back at last to the town of Granite Falls, where stood the House of the Bradicombs. Again it was evening, his arms were tired, especially the one that carried the baggage; and all parts of him felt in need of rest. As he rode down

What a wonderful adventure!  I nearly fell through the floor when I read how much it was going to cost to ship the rest of stuff to your home.  If I recall right that's how much it cost to ship my stuff to Scotland, yikes!

Can you imagine? Another post about Hallowe’en by me? Did I not mention before that this begins my favorite time of year? Indeed, it does, and as such I cannot but seem to post about it’s separate parts, so to speak, beginning with, again, Hallowe’en!

Since childhood, it has always fascinated me. Well, scarcely the willies outta me, before the

I made soul cakes a few years ago.  I wasn't a fan, but I had some friends that just loved them.  I hope you had a wonderful Halloween!

@libris Over the years I have admittedly increased the spices, so they may be better called spice cookies by now, but as you may have guessed, I do enjoy the history behind them. Yes, it was pretty wonderful, thank you! I do hope yours was spent well, too!

Eine Kleine Update

Much has been going on since my trip back to Alaska. So much so that I have had precious little time since returning to do much more than keep up with it all and do my best to take care of myself, as I really cannot afford to come...

I wait all year for Hallowe’en. Truthfully, it begins the celebration of the end of the year for me, moving from Hallowe’en to Thanksgiving to Christmas and New Years. As I get older, doing the decorating takes more time, but it must be done….and I have a lot of decorations for Hallowe’en and Christmas.

As I was away for...

Fantastic!  I love there was a Halloween production that ran late followed by a ghost tour.  What a great idea!  I wish the theatres here would put on a few spooky shows this time of year, but I suppose they don't have the manpower and/or money for an October show, then go straight to the holiday shows.
bradmax:
@libris I have no idea as of yet about funding, but I do have permission from a play write to use his Hallowe’en show scripts and hope to at least direct something for next year…🤞🏼

"In a trailer in Wasilla, Alaska there lived a Bradimus. Not a nasty, dirty, wet trailer, filled with the ancient carpets and a musty smell, nor yet a dry, bare, warm trailer with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a Bradimus trailer, and that means comfort."

I am off today not only to see if that trailer

I. A Place on Which Time Makes Strong the Impression of Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

A Saturday afternoon in September was approaching the time of arrival, and the vast tract of unenclosed wild known as Alaska enwintered itself moment by moment. Overhead the hollow stretch of whitish cloud shutting out the sky...

Double Anniversary Date.

2010, my brother Doug married Jessica, but it just so happened that it was also the day I got in my loaded Toyota Camry, two cat carriers in the back seat facing one another so Japolo and Gigi could see each other and take some comfort in that before they were free...
