All Is Well With Me And Mine
We were a little stupid and went out last Friday to get our provisioning done. I say ‘stupid’ because it was ridiculously raining tigers and bears and the wind was insane. However, all the places we needed to shop at had power and their card readers were working and we made it home safe.
Power and cable and internet would not last the night, though fortunately, other than a few short blackouts, our power remained on. The next day the full horror that the whole western part of North Carolina was ‘gone’ was discovered: all roads were washed out or bridges collapse at some point, and some towns were, in fact, just gone. The flooding was horrific as all that water, one from a stalled and already ferocious storm over those mountains and the other from Helene.
A week on (almost) rescue efforts still go on.
