Can you imagine? Another post about Hallowe’en by me? Did I not mention before that this begins my favorite time of year? Indeed, it does, and as such I cannot but seem to post about it’s separate parts, so to speak, beginning with, again, Hallowe’en!

Since childhood, it has always fascinated me. Well, scarcely the willies outta me, before the

I made soul cakes a few years ago.  I wasn't a fan, but I had some friends that just loved them.  I hope you had a wonderful Halloween!

@libris Over the years I have admittedly increased the spices, so they may be better called spice cookies by now, but as you may have guessed, I do enjoy the history behind them. Yes, it was pretty wonderful, thank you! I do hope yours was spent well, too!

Eine Kleine Update

Much has been going on since my trip back to Alaska. So much so that I have had precious little time since returning to do much more than keep up with it all and do my best to take care of myself, as I really cannot afford to come...

I wait all year for Hallowe’en. Truthfully, it begins the celebration of the end of the year for me, moving from Hallowe’en to Thanksgiving to Christmas and New Years. As I get older, doing the decorating takes more time, but it must be done….and I have a lot of decorations for Hallowe’en and Christmas.

As I was away for...

Fantastic!  I love there was a Halloween production that ran late followed by a ghost tour.  What a great idea!  I wish the theatres here would put on a few spooky shows this time of year, but I suppose they don't have the manpower and/or money for an October show, then go straight to the holiday shows.
bradmax:
@libris I have no idea as of yet about funding, but I do have permission from a play write to use his Hallowe’en show scripts and hope to at least direct something for next year…🤞🏼

"In a trailer in Wasilla, Alaska there lived a Bradimus. Not a nasty, dirty, wet trailer, filled with the ancient carpets and a musty smell, nor yet a dry, bare, warm trailer with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a Bradimus trailer, and that means comfort."

I am off today not only to see if that trailer

I. A Place on Which Time Makes Strong the Impression of Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

A Saturday afternoon in September was approaching the time of arrival, and the vast tract of unenclosed wild known as Alaska enwintered itself moment by moment. Overhead the hollow stretch of whitish cloud shutting out the sky...

Double Anniversary Date.

2010, my brother Doug married Jessica, but it just so happened that it was also the day I got in my loaded Toyota Camry, two cat carriers in the back seat facing one another so Japolo and Gigi could see each other and take some comfort in that before they were free...

Life Is Good

Like most of us, I worry a lot. A lot over things I cannot control, and that is a waste of time, t my mind. Yet, I still worry. I combat this with realizing just how good life is for me and the Blessings I have had that put me where...

It’s A Thing, And Always A Part of Me

I am human. I suspect this will always be the case, at least I sure hope so; as shitty as we can be to one another, I quite enjoy being human. One of the main truths, I think, about being human is having emotions. Well,...

One of the best book I've read on anger is Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames by Thich Nhat Hanh; it's lifechanging.  We're human we're going to get angry, and go through every other emotion we experience, but the book helps by encouraging us to explore our anger, and tend to it so we don't go too out of control.
bradmax:
@libris I will be taking your advice and obtaining a copy soon; I appreciate the benefit of your wisdom. It took a while, maybe too many years, for me to really understand that Life is a series of opportunities to really know and understand ourselves. I have been learning for many of those years, actually ALL of them, but I’ve really only been aware of doing so for for perhaps the last 20 or so. I do not expect it to ever end, as there is always something more to know about oneself.

A Bradmax Adventure, Five Rounds Rapid

A little explanation I feel may be necessary; two years ago this weekend I had one hell of an almost life-changing adventure. I will let the story I posted on Facebook at the time tell the whole story, but as some of the adventure shows up in my...

So much is confusing these days. So much support for an Administration that is worse than the previous one just one of many confusions. There are those who declare there is a war against women, yet cannot define what a woman is, and yet by including those who ‘feel’ they are, are diminishing what...

The images from the Webb telescope are outstanding!  It just blows my mind how time and space work, and that something that amazing is outside of this world.  Nature is my calming agent as well.  If I feel like I'm in a funk, I just need to step outside for awhile to clear my head.  I love falling snow, all of those tiny, intricate snowflakes creating a world of white is delightful!  Wonderful blog as usual, have a good week!

@libris I truly do miss the longer nights of winter in Alaska, as where I lived the last several yers before moving was mostly devoid of light pollution, so seeing the Milky Way and crispness of the Moon  and, if lucky, the Northern Lights were a few of my favorite ways to ease mind and body!  Thank you for the kind words, and I return the hope of a good week!

Peaceful Contemplation

Saturday night last was a very nice change from the madness of the last few weeks, personally and universally. A storefront moved in and at around 10pm I turned out the lights in the front room, opened the blinds and watched the lightning light up the sky in brilliant flash. Several seconds later that sweet sound...

I'm so glad your mom is doing better, but I'm sorry to hear your dad has memory problems.  I think loss of memory is one of the worst things that can happen to someone, and it's absolutely devastating to close family.  During the height of the pandemic my mom started hallucinating animals like mice, etc, so I called her then doctor, and they never returned my call. I was livid, so I found a new doctor, and it turned out she had extremely low B12.  So she was given a round of high dose shots, and she stays on a supplement now; but for those two weeks it felt like an eternity, and I was prepared for her to stay like that.  What I found was if I interacted with her hallucinations I could eliminate them by pretending I was taking the animals outside.  It was wild to say the least, and she can remember a little bit from that time.
bradmax:
@libris It is, of course, a concern, but it is my honor to such things as I can for them. Mom and I do our provisioning on Friday’s, I may have mentioned, and there are those times when she gets off her chest her impatience with him, knowing full well it’s not his fault, and does her best not to get too exasperated with him. At the same time, he is at least aware of his short term memory problems and is frequently apologetic. Anyway, as I am certain you do, we keep an eye on it and if it should progress we will get him to the doctor. Be well!

I really don’t have the confidence to write but I think it will help to do so.

My mother has been feeling off kilter all week, weak and lethargic. We encouraged her to see her doctor and she did so today, taking my Dad with.

I get a call at a bit after 3pm from her that her doctor is not happy with her oxygen...

@libris We are finally home; all of the worries were mid at best but for the oxygen levels. She now has a 24/7 oxygen generator with a 40ft tube so she can move around the entire floor, just needing to get used to the tube so it doesn’t get entangled in anything. Also a couple of smaller tanks for travel outside of the house. We need a finger monitor to determine her levels, yet, but as of now we are home and everyone is at better ease. I am exhausted. It has been a few ‘interesting’ days and I have been very busy either getting all of the shopping for them and myself done, watching out for Dad and his bad short-term memory (he knows his memory is bad and has thanked me for keeping him going), cooking… Of course the knee has been giving me lots of ‘Fun’ too. Just damn glad to have a half day of being able to fall apart and Mom home with good health prospects.
