A little boy, no more than 8 or 9, sits in front of a television set. The television light beaming down on the child, like gods grace in contrast to the black absence of light around him. The boy's attention captured by the auditory and visual stimulation was broken by a familiar dullness creeping from the base of his spine, when it reached his head he felt fear, sharp shivers shot down his spine. He instantly felt watched, as if something intent on harming him was just outside the glow of the television, in the thick empty blackness. He froze, recalling the previous time this feeling, this fear, had consumed him, this fear had chased him up the stairs many times before, escaping to the nearest light switch. As soon as he would reach the switch and frantically turn it on the malevolent thickness oozed back to whatever kind of hell it came from, but this time was different. He knew the nearest light switch was down the hallway from the room he was in, at the base of the stares. As He thought about making a run for it he turned his head and looked into the blackness. One glowing deep red round ball was in the air, it was about the size of a golf ball about eight feet away from him. The boy was overwhelmed as the familiar fear morphed into incapacitating terror. The boy stared as the deep red ball moved a bit, a faint red tracer followed the ball as if it were in sow motion and it were waiting for the rest of its inherent light to catch up to the position it stopped in. The boy stared. The ball started to move again, this time as it moved another deep red ball followed. The boy understood not that these deep red glowing balls were eyes, the eyes that watched him from the dark, the eyes that were look right at him with such evil that the boy felt crushed under the weight of infinite horror. As these deep red eyes pierced the boy, a faint glow of a dull orange, and dark reds, started to manifest behind the entity providing the boy with a silhouette or the creature. The entity looked dog like from what the boy could tell, as he sat there in front the television, like a pit bull the size of a lion. The boy couldn't make out much further aside from the creatures teeth, broken shards of glass looked more accommodating. The boys fight or flight instincts kicked in. He first wanted to run, but the creature was right to the entrance of the hall, snarling. The boy knew he had to face this creature once and for all, even if it killed him.

A man wakes up, filled with terror, and relief. He has finally, after all these years, confronted the evil that tormented him as a boy, in the dark of his childhood home. He is relived that he doesn't live there anymore, though he is concerned about any current occupants of the house he grew up in. He rolls back to sleep.
