SG, I feel like I'm in the twilight zone and hopefully this is the end to my series of unfortunate events.
Today, my neighbor's front door was kicked in, he was brutally assaulted and robbed of most of his belongings in the middle of the afternoon. I was pretty shaken up by this horrible crime, so when I received a phone call from a drunken friend in the middle of the night who was trying to walk home [we live in a semi-seedy area of Chicago] from the blue line [a line on our subway system], I immediately told him I would pick him up.
While I was driving to pick up my friend, I was hit by a drunk driver who was going about 95-100 mph. Other than her extreme speed being dangerous, she also ran a red light, which lead to her smashing into the passenger side of my car so hard that my car rolled down Harrison ave.
My eyes were open the whole time. I watched the world rolling around in front of my face, whilst having shards of my windows shatter into my face like drops of rain. I was completely upside down when my car stopped rolling, seat belted in [praise God], but my car decided to take one last tumble onto it's side which resulted in my head getting slammed onto the concrete.
I never went unconscious during any of this, so I assumed immediately that I was dead because I was not in a lot of pain and was still able to function. I heard people screaming, so I unbuckled and stood up in my car [because it was on it's side]. The locks had gotten smashed into the doors during my roll down the road, which left me utterly helpless. A young woman managed to open my trunk and pull me out through it. Men and women were running up to me asking me if the person in the car was okay, but when I told them it was me, they were so confused and asked if the other people with me were alright. I was alone. Nobody understood how I was alive. I didn't understand how I was alive. The drunk driver's car was barely even dented, and she was too intoxicated to even care what had just happened. Other than my bruised knees and sore neck/head, I'm fine. I am 100% aware that this was not a coincidence, this was not "pure luck", this was a miracle performed by the hand of God.

I'm not really sure what these trials and tribulations that I've recently been going through are for, but they have made me appreciate life so much more, and to let go of the little things. I know I'm alive for a reason, I'm not exactly sure what that reason is, but I know that I have one. I could have easily become another statistic tonight. Another sad story of why people shouldn't drink and drive. But here I am now, sitting on this box in my apartment, typing this out.

Please keep me in your prayers, so that this situation will be properly taken care of in court. Who knows, maybe it could change one person's mind before they get behind the wheel after a few drinks.

xx

I was in a car wreck that literally did kill me for a few seconds...I've also been hit in a car while parked that sent me careening across a freeway, aware the whole time it was surreal and I wasn't hurt at all really

crazy stuff...hopefully that's the worst you'll ever experience

xoxo, quick recovery and best of luck

I've been here before. It makes you think a bit harder about the saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"... But my sister has a tattoo that says "diamonds are born under pressure". So stay strong under these extreme conditions! Good luck smile
