first and foremost i would like to celebrate the triumphant return of 2coolforschool. his often ludicrous comments have been sorely missed in the last couple of months. i guess he was busy having a real life, outside of THE INTERNET (loser)...

woo hoo!

the back of the DVD case for LAKE PLACID has this quote:

"This Years Anaconda!"

if i ever made a movie that got that quote i would tie my neck to a bull and then kick it in the junk.

in other bill-pullman-related news: ZERO EFFECT is somehow funnier everytime i watch it. if you have not seen it, it comes with my HIGHEST recommendation.

next up, i got an awesome blast from the past in a bit of made-up slang that never really caught on like i had hoped it would. im willing to try to make it popular again (if you guys will help me). my good friend, The Pants, changed his AIM name this week to BuseyForThePants. i will now quote directly from his buddy info as to the definition of this name:

Gary Busey (GA-ree Byoo-see) slang. adj. (alt. usage: Busey): Pertaining to a state in which one holds a capricious - but nonetheless strong - liking, inclination or desire. Usually used with a meaningless modifier such as all, totally, or mad.

"I'm glad we stopped here to eat. I've been Gary Busey for their pizza all week"

"He's totally Busey for her; he writes about her every day in his blog"

a bunch of years ago, when i was a freshman in college, i shared a bunk bed with a boy named peter. peter and i used to watch a lot of MR. SHOW and say many wacky things. one day, im not sure which one of us came up with it, but we decided that a Gary Busey was the ultimate measure of ones desire. in a matter of weeks, it led (between us) to the popular usage that The Pants was so kind to define above. i even carried the phrase with me when i left college, leading to my brother's classic line when we were making a movie in my ex-girlfriends basement and the pizza we had orded finally arrived Man! Im so Gary Busey for this pizza.

so if you would all be so kind as to help with this quest, we can bring this phrase into the modern vernacular. it would be much appreciated. i'll start:

i chatted online with whitesamurai tonight and im totally Busey for the chinese food she said she'd bring over."

in other news i am still trying to work out some plans, feel free to drop an advice bomb (please refrain from saying anything along the lines of follow your heart i have the song listen by the stiff little fingers ready to go at a moments notice if i need that kind of non-specific advice).

so, in the event that the scooter store guy lets me down (which is more and more likely at this point) and i end up completely on my own with no parasitical strings attached at the end of january, what do i do? keep in mind, working with him this year destroyed me financially and recovering, pulling myself out of debt and starting a savings account are big goals for this year (but, of course, the biggest goal is to become a much better artist and the next goal is to study muay thai). my options as i see them:

1. take on more hours and go balls to the wall at my day job (the sign shop) and speak with the owner and my department manager about taking on more responsibilities (they would be very open to this). agree to stay with them for a while in exchange for a pay raise and continued steady work... also, i continue to get wonderful advice from my boss who is one of the best businessmen ive ever met. in my spare time, i focus on NOTHING except working on my magazine and comics with an eye towards a relaunch (i have a few contacts who are interested in helping me to prepare a proposal to get funding or find a publisher).

2. continue in my half-assed fashion at instant sign center, but also put up the long-delayed self-promotion website www.creativejuggernaut.com and start doing light design work (logos, etc) and some entry-level identity-marketing consultation work (i am qualified for both positions). and then, in whatever free time i have, continue trying to make a go of the magazine.

i dunno, already i guess number 1 makes more sense. i am just getting totally bored of being fucking poor. BUT, being poor isnt that big of a deal when i get to draw. i have been EXTREMELY happy for the last two days just because i have been drawing in my sketchbook and working out projects...

i dont know, i guess none of it really matters until i find out what is going on with scooter shop guy. i know one thing is for certain, i no longer have the energy to come home after work and study marketing and design an infrastructure for an e-commerce site. i still really want to study and read as much as i can, but i want to do it in areas where i feel i am falling behind artistically, specifically: typography, pen and ink rendering, life-drawing and color theory.

i guess i have been writing a lot about work lately, anybody getting bored yet?
