Does anyone know what happened with these Danish cartoons?
Art History Class:
A bunch of answers that imply that no one has read the news, watched the news or comprehended what they may have actually snapped up tidbits of.
Jordan:
Explanation based on having read a few articles on the subject intertwined with his opinion based on the matter having known the history and role of cartooning in society as well as some entry-level knowledge of the religion of Islam. Ending with, I dunno, I haven't actually seen these cartoons, but they can hardly be more inflammatory than an episode of The Daily Show. This reeks of a couple activist clerics trying to start a problem and succeeding.

Well, there were a couple that upset them, one was Mohammed on a cloud holding his hands up to stop a couple of flaming men who are running towards him and yelling "no no we have no more virgins."

I like my Art History Teacher, she's only a few years older than me and seems to actually love Art History, which helps to make it less, I dunno, soul-draining I guess. She's got me actually learning about things that I have no interest in whatsoever, so that is probably a good sign.
As far as the cartoons go, it got me thinking that had we not already been mired in an inappropriate war, eradicating these people rioting over a cartoon might not be a bad idea. I know thoughts of mass genocide probably shouldn't be taken lightly, but there is something incredibly scary about religious fundamentalists being so wound-up and brainwashed that they would kill innocent people over a fucking cartoon. I could give two shits if it's a cartoon of their religious figure. Religious tolerance is about the only way that many diverse groups can occupy one area and their activiities aren't helping any. They are like ULTIMATE CATHOLICS. Like catholics that have been distilled to their purest form (you can mix them with two quarts of water and get grape juice).
