youthful hike
angels, fairies, imps - seen
'my daddy's better than yours!'
'my mom's hugs chase away monsters!'
prayer, a conversation
sunshines anticipated, beheld
snow angels, licking icicles, jumping into snow drifts
'Santa's coming tonight!'
'Dreidel, dreydl, dreidel!'
'Love is all you need!'
'Hare Krishna! Hare Rama! Amitabha Buddha! My, my sweet Lord~!'
sitting between the house
and a five foot drift,
singing every song that I knew
-then every one I didn't
pre-four year old hope resurrected
time, space transcended,
singing 'Love me Tender,' and 'Walk the Line'
Elvis, Johhny and Ray
iconic widows for Beatles' affinity.
-back into the house,
adolescent reality entombs
yesterday takes over, tomorrow's feared
four year olds shouldn't want to die
neither should forty year olds
'Life is like a warm gun'
'Mamma, just killed a man,
put a gun against his head,
pulled my trigger, now he's dead'
dammit, missed
-back to this moment, this breath
sparkling winter's moonlight,
pray for a strolling mind's eye,
not merely a suicide's sibling,
hand holding, not merely nice-
think that's worth sleeping on.
