'politics and US in the U.S.' timothy r gates, 9/9/2009
we the people
free to vote,
don't vote
loan sharks, all
we're hungry for our stuff
those that vote, hungry
for more
those that don't vote,
bitch, even, more
disenfranchised
rich, poor,
red and yellow, black and white
-addd any missed in this list,
genders,
lifestyles,
youth, aged, VETS,
disabled and or different
(whatever the hell these mean on any given day)
play to pay or pay to play
'why doesn't anyone care about me?'
the common cry of US in the U.S.
'am I my neighbor's keeper?'
the infamous whine of the haves
'alms for the poor, anyone?'
infamy weeps to be freed from the have not club
Politicians are the haves,
using the haves and have not,
polarization of these is their primary game:
loan sharks, all
we the people,
free to vote
only for those with enough cash to run
we the people,
most don't vote
too busy bitching, too busy getting more
stuff to add to the other stuff
we share a common epitaph:
US of the U.S. watch our big TV's,
complain about the party we've not been invited to screw
they talk about WWJD,
the compassion of Islam,
the tenacity of Judaism,
unwilling to admit to their incipient agnostic atheism,
(it would be refreshing to hear one say the truth:
I admire myself, my opinions, my stuff - vote for me
and you too will be free to be your god = I am.)
bigamist, all
they'll sleep with anyone with an 'In God we Trust' for them.
have I?
they're afraid of Mormons
ask them to see their Masonic rings,
the City on the Hill, they all proclaim
to-day, all races and genders claim the Federalist Papers,
efficient propaganda for the masses,
use god, mom, children and apple pie,
like Mao, if they'd tell US of the U.S. the truth,
network marketers, all
throw enough shit on the wall and some will stick,
the US of the U.S. that sticks gets to eat on the Hill.
