'Civil New Year' timothy r gates, 12/31/2006
American independence,
still the same civil calendar,
old man out; baby in
a neophyte nation seeks to teach nations;
we still have not learned
to 'do war no more'
Saddam was killed yesterday morning, Iraq's rogue-royal terrorist
killed for killing one hundred plus of his own.
or leaders did nothing when he slaughtered a quarter of a million,
using the bullets they gave him, left over from overthrowing his predecessor,
outlived the UN's usefulness - and ours
neither did anything when a million, plus were murdered in Rwanda
both still are in a quandary as to what to do
neither gave a damn about the mass bombing of Kosovo,
collateral damage, damn euphemism of convenience
We the People
celebrate our civil New Year;
I pray that we will
learn to 'do war no more'
naive, those who have health insurance
blame those who do not have it for not having it.
lies, spinners, jackasses in congressional uniforms
use the forest's byproduct, and technological network,
creating legislation, doing the same as the last piece:
give the loggers trees to fell, and then plant in their place
give the bloggers shit to send out online
'a child shall lead them'
another year past,
today is it
I choose to celebrate
the good do not die young;
they merely repose
until
