'i too, rake hurriedly' timothy r g, 4/29/2008 inspired, again, by the genius of Issa

..i too....
rake, and do many, most, things in this manner....
but then, i, too, don't always wear underwear...
and then no note for this departure
-they wouldn't know, for sure,
did he mean to write a goodbye note
or, did he merely work hurriedly, normal
(what is normal?
that...

'leviathan' timothy r gates, 12/17/2007

leviathan
flies
swoops
cries
no one to walk with
no garden to dance in
no lover to hold
monster
sea monster
wale, some say
a dragon dies
lies
heart broken
bad rap in the west
good one in the east
children see them
elders decry them
goddesses ride them.
hear their song,
overtones.

'the sixties, and' timothy r gates, 2/8/2008

the sixties
one guitarist barely made it in them,
the other near the end of the 20th century;
creativity?
i do remember,
well, either way, I do recall:
free love, free everything,
didn't think we'd make it to 20,or 30
then didn't know what to do.
the sixties, the good ole days?
my Grandfather, born w/in a decade...

'an embrace' timothy r gates, 4/21/2008

...an embrace
is an embrace,
sometimes not ready
sometimes not steady
here better steady your brace,
a rhyme not usually my genre,
but here as i linger in these arms
i care not if it's life,
or death;
it is now,
and here i suspend the rhyme,
life and death,
Dante's Beatrice embraced
is at our eternal present
and...

'i looked out the window' trg, 4/17/8 for love's witness

i looked out the window
no different than my window
within
without
icons
iconodule
iconoclasts only make more icons
windows, always open,
if we dare
surreality
is
reality
now
and then, damn, blessed, i
find
only needed to clean the pane
of course,
then,
sometimes i forget
and bump my head on the window.

'how is it' timothy r gates, 4/15/2008

how is it,
a girl loves a boy
not this boy
and this boy not this girl,
still-
she is he
he is she
not a leap
neither asleep,
nor were, are
they
in the same space,
-how is it
a girl loves
a boy loves
her,
she him?
footprints on the moon
we've walked there
how?
I...

'illusion of disconnectedness' timothy r gates, 4/15/2008

Illusion of disconnectedness
we purport our claim upon individuality
personhood, we share
gender's DNA, we share
species and kind, we share
name, we share.
(we argue about gender specifics, till someone we love dies)
blood, we share
earth, we share
air, we share
life and death, we share.
Illusion of cessation
we couch in scientific euphemisms,
proposing that...

'a bloom' timothy r g 4/8/2008 written first on the back of a place mat at a Chinese Restaurant

a bloom
only subtle to one not looking
sadness, a hug
shrug
praying, union
re-union, somehow it seems
deja vu, re-incarnate
gnostic, not muskrat, love
lotus' hymn
wild flower, weed
roses, orchids watch close
jealous, a nudge
budge
preying, symphony
overtones, here i hear
unseen, present...

'War: Complicated' April 4, 2008, Timothy R Gates
for the day of Poetry Reading at 'Art is Alive,' this evening
War?
Complicated?
Convenient, collateral rhetoric
Is there ever a time to kill another person?
Being?
How about a shit-head?
And,
then,
what of those that are left behind
-will they not do the same thing
to you?
Won't they too think they are justified?

War?...

'War: Complicated' April 4, 2008, Timothy R Gates
for the day of Poetry Reading at 'Art is Alive,' this evening
War?
Complicated?
Convenient, collateral rhetoric
Is there ever a time to kill another person?
Being?
How about a shit-head?
And,
then,
what of those that are left behind
-will they not do the same thing
to you?
Won't they too think they are justified?

War?
Complicated?
Enemies, they are
Evil doers, they are
Emancipation, we'll give them,
'Bomb them,
Nuke them,
Kill them!'
If we kill all those folks that disagree with us,
then War will, finally,
be no more.
'Just War?'

War?
Complicated?
Smart Bombs,
Terrorists,
Collateral Damage,
-Our Leaders tell us,
'We have a business interest with them,'
the ones that we do not exact war.
China, too big
Japan, once rebuilding them is enough
Russia, no desire to unite that geographic expanse
Americas, whoops - already subjected
like an abusive parent,
ill, sick, supposedly not in control of themselves,
yet when you are big enough to hit back, they stop.
Do our leaders do war with a people whose gun is as big as ours?

War?
Complicated?
If soldiers stopped doing the bidding of their leaders
would we need to kill them first?
Then there would peace on earth.

'to the microphone I'll go' timothy r g, 4/01/2008 (for you, this day)

Souls,
old souls,
friends
lovers, somehow know
we don't always understand,
nor do we presume to,
we simply know, somehow.

to the microphone I'll go,
read lines,
heart and soul,
old and new,
pausing for others to see themselves
their loves, hurts, sorrows, beloveds
heaven and hell
in my words
-being, now,...
