Hey y'all!
The first part of this journal entry is going to be a big thank you to the lovely, talented and just plain awesome Twinkie. I'm a big fan of her work, and over the summer I asked her if she would make a special blueberry muffin scarf for me to give to my girlfriend as a Christmas present. So months passed, and despite the fact that the lady has been incredibly busy, she totally came through and my scarf is now on it's way! I'm really excited, and I think Sarah (my girlfriend) is going to love it. She hates winter, but loves muffins. It's perfect! So thank you Twinkie for helping me make Christmas for my lady very special. I really can't say enough about what it means to me.
Next we have this:
Celestial Machinations
It's a little hard to discern, I know, but it's supposed to be viewed much larger. The print is 11x14". I did this as a Christmas present for my friend Rachel (who is also Sarah's sister). She specifically asked me to do an abstract piece for her. It made me feel kinda good, because she's one of the only people who actually really likes my abstract work. There's a lot of neat stuff in there, but it's hard to see all the textures and such at this size. Hopefully you get a general idea though.
So now (with special thanks to Twinkie), I have all of my Christmas gifts together and taken care of. I fortunately was able to get everything done with a couple of days to spare. I'm glad, because I was getting a little too stressed out for my own good.
Tomorrow night I'm going to my mom's house to meet up with her and my best friend to do a little early Christmas thing. He's a police officer, so he has to work both Christmas eve and day, so we had to find another time to get together. Never mind he has his family and his wife's family to visit too. It'll by nice. My mom's making some of those little candied hot dogs. Mmmmm.
Oh, and lastly, last Saturday I went to see one of my dream concerts. To my delight and utter shock, GWAR actually put on a show here. I've seriously been waiting fifteen years to see these guys play, and it was everything I could have ever hoped for. The show immediately opened up with the lead singer (Oderus Urungus) cutting off an army guys head and blood spraying all over the audience. It was amazing to finally see them in person. With their costumes on they all looked eight feet tall and really believable. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I felt bad for the staff though at the end of the night. There they were with their push brooms sloshing around little tidal waves of fake blood. The whole audience left covered in it as well.
I really hope they come back.
