Yippee, keeping my fingers crossed for a vacation! There is still no word on the furlough at work! Tomorrow is the last day we are approved to work. I don't even think there were hearings - so it is unlikely we will have a bill - it's not like Congress works late very often!

If they don't pass a bill and we don't work - when we eventually do return to work - they have to pay us for the time we were off (rather like a paid vacation in retro)! And, since my research is funded I fortunately have another source of income (whew) so it's not a huge problem for me (although not used to living on student income) so I'm still glad I didn't book Amsterdam, I guess! But, the silly think is because even though we can't come to work, won't get a paycheck, etc. - we are still considered "employees" and can't work anywhere else! Damn crazy! Just hope it doesn't last too long - I don't want Ramen!

Maybe I will get some work done on my dissertation! I'm actually rather hoping for it! It's just been crazy getting things "wrapped" up at work in the event it does happen - which will also be good because I'll be so caught up and Fridays are for "professional development" if I'm ahead at work - that means dissertation research since it is directly job related too!

So - either way, I can't loose. Rub my belly! I'm golden! YEAH! I am so happy - things have been going really well generally! The punks are off the side street. The GF is back from vacation (with new ink that is HOT). Fam is all well (even mom is floating smoothly). Dog quit moping. One of my friends just had top surgery for transition this morning and I heard all is well - there's some modification!

Pay it forward!

What's your dissertation on? And, ahem, despite editorial decisions, some of us still find your opinions insightful and helpful. wink
