Turns out EVERYTHING I thought I knew about how to make Ramen (Japanese noodle soup) is wrong. Dead wrong. It also takes way longer than even I usually take. :? Cool book, though.

Thinking on it today I recalled that I got an awful case of shigella from some dhosas once. I may have been too enthusiastically silly about them. Nice combo of Mork and Mindy :)

Shigella is a bacteria that gives a pretty miserable diarrheal illness. After trying to ride it out for a few days I ended up in the ER and got five liters of IV fluid. The dhosas were lentily delicious though with that coconutty gravy stuff and the potatoey spicy filling :)

Wow! That's a lot of lost fluid! You must have looked like a raisin! I love potato curry more than life itself, but I just can't do Dhosas. First time I went to India I didn't even like lentils, so it would have been handy to know that dahl comes with everything, but after six weeks I did end up developing a taste for it :P Dhosas are still a bridge too far for me, though.
