On a personal note related to the question of wether you can choose to fall in love. In my late teens I tried to teach myself to NOT fall in love. It took a couple years to realize this was so far out of my personality that I was killing myself, my identity. So instead of trying not to be so foolish as to fall in love all the time I chose to not fight that aspect of myself and embrace it. Not only do I not generally fight it avoid it, I go for it, I intend to love. It's kinda like love is my default setting.

It's probably how we all are, before we get corrupted by the hurts that have been experienced by the people around us, let alone the hurts we go through ourselves.
