Something's been bothering me with this whole SG thing. Before I do anything about it, I figure I should post it to see if there's an argument against it.

SG is essential a message board system wherein each member can post all sorts of information about themselves to initiate conversations with people that have similar interests. Personally, I thought it a medium to find feedback on some other thoughts I'd had. I haven't done a lot of looking, but it's not that hard to find people that have an interesting way of thinking. That was not my original reason for signing on. I thought then, as I do now, that the women here are gorgeous, real and stylish in the ways I find apealing. With piercings, tattoos, clothes and interests. That portion of the site is about overt sexualization. Sexual artistic liberty.

While that's something that everyone should desire, whether or not they're working towards it. It should describe a comfort with one's body and sexuality to have more fulfilling and more passionate relationships. I'm worried that many of the girls here seem to use their beauty for popularity or as a means for income. Let me be clear to say I think very few girls here fit into the latter category, but some do. It has no influence on me; they can do what they like. But it seems to me to be a trivialization of their sexuality. It demonstrates a willingness to casually exploit their sexuality to prey on the libidos of strangers with no intention of forming a relationship. Let me explain why I think this is bad:

The most important thing in the world are our relationsihps with other people. We can get a long way, but alone we're limited to our experiences and thought patterns. Our reltionships with other people allow us to grow and mature in every way in much more advanced ways. Not to mention the limitless potential for passion which just cannot be found alone. If you haven't guessed yet, I think love and sex are both very important things. The more meaningful and fulfilling the passion, the better the experience. I honestly just don't have any interest in having sex with someone for whom I'm not passionate. It's not exciting. At least not relative to being with someone you know intimately and choose to be with above any other person. Handshakes and hugs are casual. Sex should be meaningful.

I think the production of sexual effigies for the purposes of profit from paying subscriptions is interpreted by most that sexuality is a casual asset. Passion should be for passion's sake. I equally resent the music industry. So few bands that I'm likely to hear make music for the sake of making music. The music industry manipulates the music and performances so they can maximize their profit margins. They prefer the safe, marketable and research group approved looks and sounds to pad their income. Music is a passion and all passion should be for passion's sake.

My best example of my ideal with respect to an SG set is Quinne's set Blue. Now I don't presume to know what actually happened the day the set was shot. But I imagine it being a very passionate interaction between Quinne and her boyfriend. If it's true then the evidence of that interaction tells me that this Sean dude is a very lucky man. The set is probably the most passionate and desirable display I've seen here. And I can see why they would both want to share such a gorgeous set of pictures. I'm glad to have been privvy to them.

The stereotypical male preoccupation with their penises is one of the things that aggravates me the most. Not because it's the stereotype, but mostly because it's true. People don't realize that they are a certain way because of public opinion rather than the reverse. I'm an avid pot smoker. I'm smoking right now, actually. I don't get lethargic or stupid when I smoke like the stereotype suggests. And if people gave a damn to try something outside stereotypical format, they might actually find some substance and meaning in their lives.

Anyway, my comment on sexual trivialization doesn't extend to SG in general. I admit there are women here who are passionate about their art (and it is an art). But there are many who just want to be naked because they feel somehow they're rebelling against the norm (see quote at very top of page). Like anyone cares that they're naked other than those cock-obsessed beer-swilling frat boys.

I seem to be pointing a lot of fingers. Truth be told, a lot of people aggravate me. And it's all based on the ignorance of their actions. People who act through willful and meaningful passion are who I'm looking for. I'm not interested in the selfish, ignorant and vapid troglodytes that don't know the experiences of thought or intelligent discussion. They, as you can see, bug the crap out of me.

i'd have to say half the girls on the site get it and the point is lost on the other half...the line between art and pornography is easily blurred...
