A History of Suicide Girls: Chapter 6

How could the site follow the explosive Lemmy/Dave Grohl set?

THAT is a hard act to follow.

But the industrious Girls of Suicide did it.

Set by set.

Climbing into our hearts.

And making us fall in love with them.

First was @aiki on Dec 15, 2003 with Soft and Sweet .

She is definitely one of the most special models to have ever graced this site.

Also hot on the heels of the Probot video shoot was @chloe with Santa Baby .

This set looks great any time of year—in any season…irregardless of the weather.

But the set that really caught my eye for Dec. 2003 (and one of the best sets of the next four months after that) was Spanish Style by @tash .

This one will light your screen up! Give it a look.

As SG rolled into year 3 (2004), it was nearing that point past which most businesses do not survive.

Indeed, most businesses do not survive a full three years, yet Suicide Girls was churning out the hits and working to defeat the jinx.

As the new year arrived, great sets arrived.

The first to really fly off the screen was Karaoke by @gwendolyn .

This set is so angular and edgy and cool. I love it!

Next to really leave a mark was @audio with Snow Angel .

It’s hard not to love this gorgeous set that’s bathed in gold.

From warm to icy, the next set of note was Princess by @al (shot wonderfully by @london ).

Al is just a great model. This set is very, very strong!

Speaking of which, the great @mary (SG’s first and biggest star) was back—a mere three months after making Lemmy appear to have popped a boner even through his constant fog of Jack Daniels—with the set String of Pearls .

It’s fascinating how Mary went from being a pale goth goddess to being a tanned, golden goddess. But I’m not complaining. As much as I lean towards pale (goth girls make me weak in the knees), Mary could suddenly have purple skin and she would still be the most bodacious model of early SG history.

This set is shot by the lovely @missy . And it was probably Mary’s most erotically-revealing set to date. Great work from these two ladies!!

It’s always good to give a glance to the photographer credit. I almost missed the next one.

Van by @lily was shot by the inimitable Richard Kern.

In a strange way, this blows me away as much (if not more) than Lemmy and Dave Grohl rubbing elbows with our favorite pin-up gals.

When I hear the name Richard Kern, I immediately think of the great musician and author Lydia Lunch (with whom he worked).

But perhaps even more so, I think of Sonic Youth.

Kern directed the video for SY’s “Death Valley ‘69”.

Not to mention his video direction for King Missile’s “Detachable Penis”.

So, basically, the dude is a legend.

Look him up.

For Christ’s sake, he had a book of his photography released by Taschen in 2007.

So, to call him a heavy hitter would be even a bit of an understatement.

And if you are familiar at all with his work, you will see his distinctive style in Lily’s set Van.

This was really a feather in the cap for Lily and SG.

We have documented (subjectively) how the quality and quantity of models improved steeply since the site’s inception in 2001.

But having Kern snap some photos was really a stamp of approval from, if nothing else, the East Coast hipster scene from which he emerged.

Ok, back to titillation.

The next set is one of the best multis I’ve ever seen.

Team Spirit is like an ‘80s MTV video masterpiece—or like a kitsch Budweiser commercial from the same era.

I can’t say enough about the magic imbued on this one by models @chloe and @trixie .

In the four-plus months covered in this chapter, this has to be a top-3 set for me.

It is bold.

Crisp.

Dramatic.

It tells a story.

And progresses like a comic book.

TRULY an SG classic!

The hits would keep on coming as @crimson released Body Art on Mar 8, 2004.

This slippery, slimy, visceral set really goes for broke and I LOVE IT.

If you are hear for the photography, get ready for some chiaroscuro goodness.

Leave it to @missy to capture the lovely @snow in the PRISTINE images of Spotty .

Photo #5 is a real stunner.

But don’t sleep on Snow’s talent.

Model and photographer team up for EXCELLENCE particularly in photos 34 and 36.

So sultry and magical!

This next set almost took the top spot for my favorite from these four-plus months.

Phyllis by @apricot introduces us to a MAJOR model.

Wowza.

I am looking forward to checking out more of her sets. And please give this lady a follow. She has 591 followers and she has been a Suicide Girl since 2004. What a bad-ass! Apricot, I salute you.

How about some more great @missy photography?

Such a consistent, QUALITY photographer.

And she was at it again on Apr 8, 2004 for Fair featuring @ravenisis .

Here’s another set that had me blowing gaskets.

Just as I was losing steam “researching” and about to hang up my pen for the day, I come across this model Ravenisis.

“Wa wa weh woah”, as Borat would say.

And the dramatic illumination and black backgrounds really helped to show this model in her best light (pun intended…wocka wocka).

But seriously, folks…kudos to Ravenisis and Missy on this highly-impressive set!!

And let’s not forget @cece and her wonderful Hot Wheels shoot.

Granted, this series should probably be called A Boob-Man’s History of Suicide Girls.

Guilty as charged.

I acknowledge my bias(es).

Anyhow, if you are a fan of breasts, keep on trucking with this series.

I will not let you down.

I will most certainly keep you abreast of tits from all eras of SG.

And for the butt-lovers, I am on the hunt for you as well.

But most of all, I am just looking for the je-ne-sais-qua sets that completely fuck me up.

The sets that have all my meters and dials and gauges popping off and spewing steam.

I’m looking for those sets that make me forget what I’m looking for—even if for a brief second.

And that is the final set I leave you with in this chapter—the set that I feel is the most important of early-2004:

Flower Gloves by @molly .

I’m always gonna give special consideration to those amazing models who have STUCK WITH the site from when they arrived up till the present day.

That seniority and loyalty means a hell of a lot to me.

Sometime I see a set and also see that the model was only with the site a brief time.

Sometimes that makes me reconsider giving them a plethora of kudos.

But some sets are undeniable.

And this is one of those sets.

If Marilyn Monroe were to have reincarnated and popped in to make merely one set for SG, I wouldn’t think any less of her for it.

I’d shout it from the rooftops: “You gotta see this Marilyn set! It’s hella voluptuous!!!”

And so it goes with this one.

I don’t know who Molly is.

I take it she’s not with the site anymore.

But she was, briefly, a part of the SG story.

At any rate, I can’t apologize for ADORING this set.

The model is amazing.

The creativity is good.

The photography is solid.

But the sum is greater than any of the parts.

And so there you have it.

Tune in next chapter to see what May of 2004 (and beyond) had in store for SG subscribers.
