i've decided that i want a nickname.
for some reason all the homies answer to something other than their christian name (see: shady, trouble, shifty, lost boy, goofy, handsome, the stud, tbug, etc.) but i've somehow been left out of the fold. i mean i suppose some of you here may refer to me as the big porn defender (or big porn, for brevity's sake) but i doubt i'd ever introduce myself as "andrew, but my friends call me big porn." when i was bangin, the click knew me as pelon but i ain't bald no mo. and bangin was just part of the folly that is youth.
surfers have the some of the best nicknames. there's two really famous rabbits (one australian and one hawiian). the mavericks crew of northern california big wave paddle in surfers have great nicknames (flea, barney, condor, skinny).
i wonder if i'm too old to get a nickname. i mean a nickname was something that's created during summer camp or in college. now that i'm within sight of the 3-0 is it passe for me to want to referred to as something other than my birthname? the closest thing i had to nickname that stuck is just a mispronounciation of my last name. and that's kinda weak, right?
