got up at the breaka breaka dawn this morning to surf the venice breakwater. conditions were the best its been the past week and there weren't too many people charging the point so i had a killer sesh. when it was time to jet, i was tying my stick to the roof of the ride when i hear a voice behind me say, "hey man, you leaving?"
"yeah, gimme two minutes," i say as i finish securing my board. i look up and it turns out the voice belongs to jeff ho, aka co-founder of dogtown's zephyr skate team.
for those that don't skate or haven't seen the docu 'dogtown and the z-boyz' the zephyr skate team invented modern skateboarding style. the whole boardsport scene can draw roots to the shit that the z-boys started. if zephyr team riders jay adams and tony alva are eazy-e and doctor dre, then jeff ho is jerry heller.
the spring term of school is starting to wind down and my last exam is on thursday. the bad news is that i've got mad book humping to do until then. the good news is that i've got a few weeks to make like a chilean before the summer term starts up. get at me cause school is almost out and this kid is ready to have some fun.
