its a real shame that vacation days are on such short supply because taking friday off work to go surfing was fuckin dope. and i'm definitely making the effort to sneak out of the office this week to do some more wave riding.. i just need another day or two for my body to finish recovering. my knees and ribs are mad sore from laying down on the board for so long.
the next month looks to be a very busy one. thankfully, i've completed all the work for my class with the exception of the final, which is a take-home (bong bong). the next trimester doesn't start until the end of the month and i'm NOT looking forward to learning the principles of accounting. work is kinda chill and i'm starting to build up some momentum for this freelance project i'm doing, which is actually pretty exciting.
handsome is supposed to be in vegas starting on friday the 13th so there's a plan in place to drive out and do a little partying. the family will be visiting santa barbara and then santa monica for two weeks following that so i'll get to joke around with my mom, hang with my sister, and play golf with my dad. also during that time, benson and the rest of the brooklyn boombaclots are going to be in LA playing a bunch of the poker tournaments going on at the bicycle club. there's also a music retailing event going on in san diego and i'm trying to get work to cover my expenses so i can go down there and.. well.. surf.
also on the horizon is a potential relocation. i talked to my dad over the weekend and he expressed a desire to purchase a townhome or condo that i could live in. when my grandfather died ten years ago, he left me with a piece of commercial real estate. and that parcel has been recently sold. i guess my folks have decided to release at least some of those funds for me to purchase a crib. yeah, i know i'm spoiled and that my folks have mad loot and yes its ok to hate on me for it.
taking my lust for surfing into consideration, i've been looking at a few beach condos anywhere between malibu and santa monica. ideally, housing is cheaper to the south but there's no way i could commute to work in the valley from the far side of the 10 freeway. as exciting as the possibilities are, i've always considered myself (or atleast for the years that i've lived in LA) to be a pretty dediated eastsider. i think that a move to the westside would represent a pretty substantial change and i'm just not so sure how i'd feel about hanging my hat in the 310. just about all of my friends are eastsiders like me and all of the places i frequent (especially the hollywood bowl!) are in and around hollywood. i guess the flipside would be the opportunity to shake things up a bit and try something new.
it would be sofuckingcool to be able to roll out of bed, grab my sufboard, and catch waves in less than 15 minutes. the thought alone gets me grinning like a retard with an ice cream cone. just thinking about surfing gives me this glazed over look. then again, if i lived on the beach, where would i go for vacation?
