once i finish picking out the cds for the drive and rolling a few joints to go with the sounds, i'll be off to vegas and gone till friday. i had the option to fly out there but the lure of burning up I-15 at supersonic speed is calling me. that and the poker room at the mirage.
if not for the plentiful easy money at the poker room in the mirage, i'd probably be pretty bummed about having to spend the greater part of the next week in sin city. i got my eye on a new longboard and an august trip to the hawaii hangs in the balance of my success so here's hoping that i can flop the nuts and avoid the dreaded river suckout.
sin city started to trip itself up a few years ago when the casinos attempted to make the destination a family friendly destination for ma and pa. high end and outlet shopping malls popped up as did video arcades and kiddie-friendly night shows that won't corrupt little sally and little johnny with g-strings and naked boobies. it took them a few years to realize that mom and dad aren't going to drop their retirement loot in the casinos if they're out chaperoning the kids but the casinos are back doing what they do best, getting patrons loaded on cheap booze and blinded by the flashing lights, all so they can make their mark on the financial statements of the visitors.
this nuclear-powered bacchanal has lost a great deal of its appeal for me since i normally associate all things vegas with having to work 12 hour days while trying to maintain a happy face during all the ego massaging and chimp wrangling that tends to fall into the lap of this here pr dude. and you can't really let the party out of your pants when you've got meetings and interviews stacked up the following morning.
nothing brings the hate more than having to suffer through the lines and cattle call of going from airport to airport, so i'm really looking foward to hitting the road and having a few hours to myself as i traverse the desert. alright kids, have a good week and i'll get at ya when i return to LA.
