Hi Dan,

I was reading your column in Billboard and couldn't help but notice that you mentioned that this year's Playboy Jazz Festival will be Herbie Hancock's first appearance at the Hollywood Bowl. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that Herbie performed with michael brecker, wayne shorter and others in 2002, the same year that the 'Live at Massey Hall' album (also mentioned in the column) was released. I vividly recall hearing Michael Brecker's rendition of 'Naima' at the Playboy Jazz Festival that year, the same version that was recorded on the 'Massey Hall' release.

My mistake on the Herbie debut.

I've already recycled all the press info sent to me, but what I remembered reading was that Herbie, Wayne and Holland were all first-timers at the fest...which sounded odd to me but because of a tight deadline I didn't have time to fact check.

Actually, a Festival Productions booker emailed me and said that Herbie has played the festival a lot in its 26 years.
