its amazing how happy returning to LA gets me. i've been making this trip from the east coast for years now and i still get happier than a retard with an ice cream cone when the plane lands at the airport and i start to drive back to the crib. of course, getting retarded during the drive after a head rest probably makes a bit of a difference in elevating my mood. i needed a bit of a reprive from the skunky, funky, smelly green shit but was primed to get lifted once i retrived the rental ride from the parking lot at long beach airport. i had a joint rolled just for the occiasion and sparked the the jimmy superfly snukka as soon as i rolled on to the 405. turned on the radio and was pleasantly surprised to find that the prophet rode shotgun with me as i cruised and praised jah.
can't say i did a whole lot back in DC. i couldn't get a hold of anyone from the old crew so i mostly sat around the house (it was too fuckin cold for my ass anyways) and read. i chewed my way through four books in four days... palahniuk's choke (great reading), the da vinci code (fun but kinda predictable), the 5th installment of harry potter (all hail gryffindor!), and walter mosely's second sci-fi novel futureland (vibrantly weird but too scattered).
everyone dreads having to sit next to a smelly person or someone who's creepy or a screaming infant during a long plane ride. imagine my delight when i discovered that i was sharing my row with a cutie (think: the first sg chloe. no, not that one, the FIRST) that shared my love for lemonade and animal crackers! and she smelled nice too! it wasn't easy to break out of my shell of shyness and attempt to be disarmingly charming (but not in that annoying stammering hugh grant way) but i think i received passing grades. the plane landed and i was making my way toward the "so, do you think i could call you sometime?" when my buddy jan hit me up on the celly. haven't heard from jan in ages so it was a real treat to hear her voice. but when i finally told jan that i'd call her right back, i looked up and my airplane neighbor had left her seat and exited the plane. a search of the baggage claim area turned up dry and i was left to drive back home, jammin by myself.
and i hope you like jammin too!
