after a kick ass weekend i feel almost like don corleone at connie's wedding... my zen-like aura of tranquilitiy leaves me inable to refuse any request. if you've ever had the desire to hit me up for dope or money or a home-cooked meal, now might be the opportune moment before the grind of another day at the office spoils my mood.
last night i caught the immortal jimmy cliff along with toots and the maytals at the hollywood bowl. toots has got to be somewhere in the neigbhorhood of 50 years old but he's got moves like a 20 year old james brown. it was obvious during his set that the godfather of soul has a strong influnece on toots, from his quick shuffling feet to the rhythm & blues tone of his set. the original rude boy jimmy cliff was backed by a powerful band and they had everyone in the bowl on their feet and dancing until the end of his set. i broke out the special stash and praised jah with a more than a few nappy-dredded heads.
the saturday yin to reggae's sunday yang was provided by the homeboy bryan who made the drive down from vegas to lay down some furious anger at the paintball park. when it comes right down to it, it really isn't fair to other players when bryan and i work together. after we dominated a few games, other players picked up on that we're the greatest band in world (not just a tribute) and started to follow us around and give us cover fire. its kind of like equipping a shark with a "laser" on its head. if not for the lucrative porn defending gig, i might have to consider turning pro.
