Why is Christmas such a mine field? Romantically, childishly, it should be a wonderful time of happiness, but it isn't. Do you remember those gifts you opened and wondered why the giver gave it to you? My ex- was always terribly disappointed by the gifts her sisters gave her; I had to agree, they were thoughtless or just plain inappropriate. Is it any wonder that gift cards are the favorite gift for giving? But gift cards suggest we don't know what to give because we don't know much about the recipient, so I ask, why are we giving a gift anyway?
I've reached an age (way beyond 45) that makes me think that a lengthy personal note about the past 12 months is a much more valuable gift than some bauble we bought on credit at a jewelry store.
What are you thinking/planning?
