As most of you have seen, the price of gas has gone down. That's great news for the general public, bad news for oilfield workers. Since our lives and careers are based on oil/gas prices thousands of my brothers and sisters just got laid off.
Those of us that are still employed have our hours cut. I am now going from 100 hours a week to 40 hours a week. It is miserable. The next wellsite will not be ready until April!
That means I will be off for two months, collecting only 40 hours a week. Sad times for my coworkers and I.
So now my supervisor is trying to decide, should I be caged to a hotel for two months or sent home to wait for a call to work.
