So, SxSW is technically over.

So here are my awards for SxSW 2007:

Best Film I saw :Fall From Grace.

From the SxSW site : The first documentary to explore the hate-filled world of Rev. Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, KS. The group has spent the last fifteen years protesting America's lax attitude toward homosexuality, and has most recently targeted military funerals as a venue to preach. This documentary features interviews with Rev. Phelps and other church members, its dissenters, ministers and theologians, and members of the church that have since left it behind.

Best Film I Wish Seen: but Didnt have time to: Cat Dancers

Before Siegfried and Roy, there was Ron and Joy Holiday. Cat Dancers is the story of the husband and wife team who became the world's first exotic cat entertainers in the 1960's. Their act and their lives changed dramatically when dashing young Chuck Lizza joined the pair in the 1980's. In a mysterious, tragic and bizarre roller-coaster tale of love, family, loss and survival, Cat Dancers weaves a tale that is as intriguing and funny as it is heartbreaking.

Show I really wanted to see but that started way late and I had someplace else to be: Public Enemy. I did catch a couple songs so I can check P.E. off my list of acts I wanted to see.

Most Fun Show: White Ghost Shivers @ The High Times Party

If you live in austin and have not seen the white ghost shivers, you are missing out, my friend. Only downside, the whole place smelled like a Phish concert. And it was hot as balls. But we had a blast.

Show I wished I could have seen because, for real, AWESOME

Best review I've read of this show was from the village voice. To Quote: Fuckyouandyourjadedcynicism: it was awesome.

Best Celeb Encounter: Brian Posehn outside Casino El Camino. I said hello. Too shy for a pic though.
Best Celeb Encounter to happen 4 minutes after my best celeb encounter: Michael Showalter. I met him in front of the Habana annex. Turns out he was hosting the Heeb Magazine showcase which I too was on my way to.
Celeb Honorable Mention: Perry Farrell outside Stubbs as I was walking to see Peaches. I will go on record to say the man has the smallest ass in all of rock and roll.

And now the extra special awards:

Award for band I could go my whole life without having to hear again: Kings of Leon

I liked them a lot more last year when they were that OTHER indie rock band that Pitchfork was jizzing themselves over. Watching that show was like watching the longest Apple iPod comercial ever.

Award for excellence in the field of ROCKING MY EVERLOVING ASS OFF AND THE FACT THAT I HAD TO SIT THROUGH KINGS OF LEON WAS SO WORTH IT: The Stooges.

I could say something about the show but....whats the point. Last night, Iggy took over the title of "most rock and roll show I've ever been to" that The Breeders have held for nearly 10 years. If you werent there, it sucks to be you.

Award for person who totally didn't deserve to be at Stubbs last night: The lady who asked me "so, Spoon is up next and then The Stooges, right? Which one is Iggy Pop with?".

Yeah.

Award for best text message received from a friend during SxSW: alyk for sending me a simple "YOU BITCH" when I told her about seeing Amy Whinehouse.

love
Award for craziest person I encountered while waiting for public transport: The lady on 6th and congress who came up to me while I was waiting for the #1 and kept asking me why Theresa didnt come get her

and last but not least

Award for totally hooking a sister up and being the best thing since sliced bread

volivershagnasty. For totally hooking a sister up and being the best thing since sliced bread.
