I have been a longhorn for....well...a long fucking time.

I have never ever ever had the chance to go to a game in person. Tickets are mucho expensive and I could never justify spending $70 to see a game. Even though I really wanted to.

When I first came to austin and was living on guadalupe (the street that runs in front of the university) (and I mean actually living ON guadalupe. like, on the street), I used to walk around the stadium on game days, listening to the games from tailgater's radios, making nice with people in hopes I could snag some free food and get something hot to eat. A hamburger or a chicken taco was like a little treat once a week during the season. Plus, I'd get to hear my Longhorns play, which I wouldn't normally get to do. Homeless teenagers aren't known for their love of college football so no one would share a radio with me. I finally had enough money to move off the street and into a modest apartment halfway through the 98-99 season.

And this year, as you all should know by now, we won the national championship.

And tonight, I got to walk into the stadium for the first time ever.
