I think I have an idea for a non-profit.
This is what happens when driving home at 2am.
I want to set up adoption grants for singles looking to adopt.
See, we as single people don't have 2 incomes to pay for adoption costs which can be up to 35,000
We also fall under the same annual income requirements as a married couple, even though there is one less person to house, clothe and feed.
Plus, there is also that whole "umm...yeah...single? And you want to do what?" stigma. I've heard from the few singles I've talked to who are thinking of adopting that they, like me, feel like we are an aside to many adoption programs.
So, I'd like to start some sort of organization / resource center for single adopters as well as gay and lesbian couples (since they adopt as "singles" too) because, from what I've found, most adoption grants out there are awarded to very traditional married couples.
I'd be lying if I said my reasons were not at all selfish but hell, if I can help myself while helping out some others along the way, so be it.

Sounds like valid reasons to me. If you ask me, the current definition of family is just a little old fashion. Families are no longer mom, dad, and two kids.

I think thats a terrific ideas. There are tons of single parents out there supporting their kids on their own and no one is trying to stop that. No reason why someone who WANTS to give a kid a better life shouldnt be able to, just cause they arent married.
