With the unpleasant drama going on with some of the popular SG girls leaving en masse, I'm happy to discover that we now can add archived girls to our favorites lists.

*** later update ***

I now think it's a bug. Site updates are tough.

Ever feel that you've been spending too much time consuming and not enough time being creative? Yeah, I feel that way a lot too. So, I spent a few hours today learning to use Adobe Premier Elements and a World of Warcraft short magically appeared without much work at all.

I laughed, I cried, I didn't die in spite of the endless shenanigans I kept...

That was pretty cool.

I've pitched the idea to a couple of people and had some interest so I'm making you the same proposal. Would you at all be interested in a horror gaming night?

Today we're going to be bathing in the depths of my angst so if you feel like skipping this entry and picking up again in a day or two when I write something less self-involved, I don't fault you in the least.

I read on a message board yesterday about some guy who had a flash of enlightenment in the pork rind section of 7-11....

I definitely relate to the obsessions and the built up angst with occasional flash points. Obsessing over one activity is easier for me to avoid through conscious effort, although I then have to worry about spreading myself too thin. The latter is something I think and hope will go away as I progress towards my goals.
rynray:
You are so thorough here. Here's a project: get your novel published. Escape in the adventure of finding a perfect publisher. Yeesh. Break the damn game. If you want to feel less angst my suggestion is this: pack music, snacks, water a book to read and a book to write and leave your home. Escapism is angst's remedy. But escape literally, not in a game. Believe you me, why? why not. biggrin

Interesting that everyone's journals have gone into hybernation.

Check out surveycomplete2.com and tell me I'm a genius.

It's nice. minimalist, yet you've got a lot to look at. Definitely class act stuff.

I guess you won't be having any chilluns then. wink

I too have noticed the journal hibernation.

Here I was, feeling motivated and ready to accomplish things like a fresh rewrite of my business website and all of a sudden I realized how I was able to overcome my accustomed lethargy: caffeine.

I had taken two tylenol for migraines a couple hours ago.

Son of a bitch.

I quit caffeine two months ago for health reasons. Only, I find out now that...

Unsubstantiated reports of cannibalism in New Orleans are squelching their way across the Internet.

I fucking love the net.

On a side note, Lankakitten bought me Tom Robbin's brand new book, Wild Ducks Flying Backwards. It's just a collection of short stories and miscellaneous reviews he's written for magazines, but I dig it.
it_thing_hard_on:
That's interesting. I'd not heard that. Not inconceivable considering if I'm on the net it's usually right here.

[edited for clarity]

The looting of New Orleans has held a strange fascination for me.

When I was a kid, the Los Angeles riots happened about a dozen miles away from my home. I remember it completely consuming us. We watched it on television, we all bought newspapers, and our teachers at school suspended lessons and put the radio on or took us into another...

From BBC News today:

US troops, armed with a shoot-to-kill policy, are being sent to New Orleans to quell growing lawlessness, four days after Hurricane Katrina hit.

Yeah, the ones talking loudest in those matters are usually the least informed.

Man, I just started reading some of the New Orleans coverage and the flooding -- jesus! It seemed like it was a disaster just waiting to happen. Why on earth did they build a city abutting and literally below the water level of the lake?

I mean, I feel bad for the people that grew up there, and nothing bad ever happened to their parents...

I seriously think they should just walk away from that city. Build a big fence around it and call it a superfund site. It's going to cost so much more to rebuild than to just relocate everyone, and even if they do rebuild, it seems obvious it will just happen again one day.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time...

I did some more research into my ginger vodka idea and learned that not only is there the $2,000 state fee that Fractured discovered, but also:

There are numerous requirements that must be met that make it impractical to produce spirits on a small scale. Some of these requirements are paying multiple special taxes, filing an extensive application, filing a bond, providing adequate equipment to...

I thought distilleries had egregious regulations but it was only a general impression I had, not based on hard facts. That was why I recommended experimenting on your own. I'll be really interested in hearing more about it if you decide to pursue it. Have you considered making infusions with off-the-shelf vodka? It could be an easy first step to testing your ideas before investing in equipment.
trevallion:
You could buy a small storage barn for your "seperate building". That's the only idea I have.

Last night's update was, frankly, a little boring so here's something entertaining:

Spicy foods really appeal to me. My favorite foods in the world include japanese curry, french fries dipped in ketchup (mixed with tabasco), thai dishes with basil and ginger slices, burritos with tapatio, and well more stomach cramping things along those lines. And recently it's come into my head that the world needs...

You should re-add that you watched Logan's Run because it is an awesome movie. But then again, I love 60s-70s cheeseball futurama.

I'd do as much research myself and try to avoid the lawyers until contracts and other issues come up. The state and King county websites have been good resources for me to find business related information in the past. This says the state fees are $2000 for a distiller. Local zoning ordinances as well as the county regulations need to be checked. If I were to do it and wasn't going to use extremely expensive equipment, I'd probably experiment and develop a recipe before creating a business or going for permits.

The other night everyone headed inside less than an hour after I arrived. I looked up at the stars and remembered how crowded it seemed inside and decided to head off to greenlake and look at the water and the sky.
